I saw these beautiful orange tulips today and they reminded me of the elderly lady, Memi, I took care of until she passed away in July 2015. I told her the color meant energy. It must be a sign because today I woke up at 5 AM and have been wide awake and on the go since. I feel very accomplished already today.
Memi was 95 when she passed away. She didn't have a lot of energy the three years I helped take care of her but she still had some sass and spunk. I cherish the way her face lit up when I brought flowers. She love to smell them and couldn't believe I could find such beautiful flowers. She told me once that when I bring her flowers and I have to leave it's like I am still there with her until my next visit.
Memi like to tell me stories about growing up and then living in Keota, Iowa. She had an incredible sweet tooth for chocolate and loved eating a BLT sandwiches.
Before she passed away she told me she wished Bill (her nephew and one of my best friends) would find a wonderful girl to love. Then in the next sentence she would say it's also important that when I have a man in my life he loves me because you deserve that love. Last year Bill and I both started great relationships with people we love. Even though she wasn't very responsive due to her health, Memi was introduced to both of them. She got her wish!
